A mobile phone is a device that can be used to make calls, chat with others, play games and many more. It is also known as smartphone, mobile, and many other names. In the present scenario, smartphone are very common. Almost, more than 50% of the people in the world are using smartphones. Without a smartphone, we will face a big disaster. Such an important thing smartphone is. But, such important things also has some advantages and disadvantages. We will look into that.

ADVANTAGES OF MOBILE PHONE

Some of the advantages of mobile phones are mentioned below:

Easy communication: With mobile phones, we can communicate easily with others. This can be done when we in another country too. With mobile phones, we can share our photos, location, videos and many other information to others. And we communicate with them at any time.

Helpful in emergency situation: When we are lost in some unknown place and we have got no one to help there, mobile phone is there at rescue. We can use our mobile phones in this regard. With the availability of flashlight and through communication, we can easily come out of the place.

Portable: Mobile phones are very compact. They can be taken from one place to another place very simply. They are light-weighted. In other words, we can say that mobile phones are less in weight and we can use them at any point of the world.

Relieves our stress: Mobile phone can be used to relieve stress is some ways. Using them, we can surf for whatever we like. We can also use them to play games, hear songs, watch videos and many others which can be done for recreation.

Entertainment: Nowadays, mobile phones have become a hub of entertainment. There are many apps which has a lot of video contents. Through mobile phones, we can watch them. We can also watch any of the videos we like to watch.

Camera (Used for taking photos): It is a big asset of mobile phones. Camera can be used for taking mind blowing photos. This is possible because of today’s technology. Also, we can shoot a video and can take a photo at the same time.

Location access and sharing: We can share our location to others to tell them where we are. This can help us, when we are stuck in a place where no help or people are there. Others can track this location and will come to save us. This is possible today because of mobile phones.

Alarm: It is possible for us to wake up time because of alarm. Mobile phones also have an alarm. This advantage helps us not to buy one alarm and waste money. Through this, we can wake up on time, do our things on time, reminds us of things that we have to do on time and so on.

Stores important things: Mobile phones can store things. With them, we can store data which has to be accessible anywhere. Therefore, with mobile phones we can store data and other important things. One can view them at any time. This data also will not be removed or lost.

Access information on web: Through mobile phone and internet, we can access information anywhere and at all the times. Using them, we can search for whatever we like and know about that. We can also search for any educational or work-related doubts too. 

 

DISADVANTAGES OF MOBILE PHONE

Bad effect on health: Prolonged use of mobile phone leads to serious health issues. They can lead to headaches. Seeing the short screen of mobile can lead to eye pain. And using them with our hands also leads to hand pain. They are many serious health issues too due to long exposure of mobile phones. To prevent this, one has to use phones for a limited period of time or use them with breaks.

Distraction: Using mobile phones for a long period of time leads to distraction. It means that we will use phones often and will not do any other work. This is a very bad thing nowadays. This had affected teenagers and children so much, preventing them to concentrate on studies. To prevent this, they have to stop using mobile phones or should use them for a short time only.

Security: Like computers, we store some confidential information in mobiles. Today’s hackers started to steal information which is stored in mobile phones also. Because of this, our personal information, photos and videos are hacked and used. To prevent this, one has to install a reliable anti-virus software on their mobiles to ensure that no hacking is done on mobiles.

Expensive: Due to newer and modern technologies, mobile phones are way far too expensive. Because of this, the poor are not able to buy them. This lead to suppression of the spread of technology to all the parts of the world. To prevent this, one has to make phones which the poor can also buy it.

Cyber-attack and building: It are a very big problem today. Cyber attacking and building are used by many hackers worldwide to steal personal information. They do it for their own benefit. They so not know the consequences or the ordeal which the oppressed has to suffer. To stop this, one has to store their information privately, and install a new and reliable anti-virus. If they broke these barriers too, they can call a specialist to resolve this problem.

Electronic waste: With mass manufacture and disposal of mobile parts and phones, they cause a big dump on our earth. This leads to pollution. They can pollute the water, air and soil. To prevent this, the waste should be disposed at the right place. We have to recycle the waste parts and make new products from it.

Isolation: With mobile phones, we are not able to communicate face-to-face. This makes them to feel that they are lonely and alone. This leads to isolation. This is a major problem today. To prevent this, one has to talk to other face-to-face also. They can chat, if it is an emergency.

Reduced physical activity: With use of mobiles, we are stuck to them. This lacks physical activity in us. We are having no time to do so because of our busy schedule and with mobiles. This also leads to weight gain. To prevent this, one has to spend some time for physical work too. This also make them energetic and they can do their work actively.

Can cause road accidents: When we are driving and we are using mobile phones, it leads to road accidents. Either the driver using phone or the pedestrian using phone got hurt. This is a very serious problem today. There are many road accidents happening world-wide. The solution for this is that we should not use phones while we are driving or while we are crossing a road.

Interruptions: Mobile phones can lead to interruptions. Consider, we are sleeping in night. Suddenly, a call or a message is coming to us. Then, our sleep is disturbed. This leads to interruptions. This can happen in many places, like when we are in an important meeting or when we are out for a trip. To prevent this, we have to inform others about our whereabouts and our status.

Mobile phones, as all objects has some advantages and disadvantages that we have seen so far. Mobile phones has many advantages, but it also has some disadvantages too. We should be wise and use mobile phones for positive things. We should not phones for watching long hours of videos or playing games. We should use them to increase the productivity. So, we should see everything as an asset.
